Penge Sets Course Record in Copenhagen
England’s Marco Penge fired a flawless seven-under 64 at Furesø Golf Klub, setting a new course record during the Danish Golf Championship’s first round. His eagle and five birdies put him two shots clear of the field.
Watch: Second round coverage begins at noon on Sky Sports Golf.
From Survival to Dominance
The 27-year-old’s career resurgence continues after narrowly retaining his tour card last year. A three-month betting suspension in December 2024 (one month conditional) preceded his breakout 2025 season:
- First pro win at Hainan Classic
- 6 top-30 finishes in last 7 events
- “You don’t have many days like that,” Penge admitted. “I’ll face trouble this week, but glad to start clean.”
Hojgaard Brothers, Molinari Chase
- Rasmus Hojgaard (home favorite) mixed 8 birdies with a double bogey for 67, tying Francesco Molinari (2018 Open champ) at 5-under.
- Nicolai Hojgaard electrified with two eagles in three holes en route to a 68.
